Hello, Jared Brosius here. I ran/judged the contest last year and can’t wait to see what you come up with for this year's challenge.
There will be a few changes from last year, but the quiz format will look the same. There will be two deadlines for uploading/completing requirements and we also have two additional judges, Lisa Guill and Devon Clements.
For the video portion, you will need to find an organization in your community to cover that fits this year's prompt. We are giving everyone a few days to schedule interviews and gather assets, but be sure you are using your time well. We will not be accepting late submissions for the final video.
The video prompt this year is:
Find a cause/non-profit/good-will organization that is helping mankind in your community.
You will be responsible for uploading/completing the required materials by the due dates listed below. The links to upload materials and take the quiz will be posted here once the competition begins on April 8th, 8am CT.
The quiz will be online and accessible from this webpage once the contest begins. You will need to be with your advisor to begin the quiz. You will not be able to return to previous questions once one is answered. The topics will range from current events in the media/tv world, to information found in your SkillsUSA handbook.
Take QuizThe creative brief can be downloaded in the section below. This must be filled out and uploaded to show you have a plan in place and aren't waiting until the final days to make your video. The organization you choose to cover may not be available, you may create a new creative brief and submit it with your final video if you need to make changes. Make sure to note why you made the changes you did, to help judges determine if this was a lack of planning or something that couldn't have been accounted for. You will be judged on your ability to submit a plan and follow it.
Upload Creative BriefOnly one upload will be allowed, but let us know if you run into troubles and we will determine if a second upload is necessary/allowed. You may only use the background songs provided in the materials section if you choose to have a music bed.
This year there will be a set time limit, as national guidelines specify. Didn't follow that last time.
